Congratulations to our two Debate Mate Teams across years 7-9 who completed at Dean's Trust in Round 1 of the Urban Cup.
The teams shone with their impeccable behaviour and team spirit! They were up against some particularly challenging motions and opposing teams.
Our A team were defeated in their first round but then they achieved victory against a swing team (including year 11's!) in their second round. Their vocabulary, cultural capital and sportsmanship were fantastic! They were both gracious in winning and in defeat and it was lovely to see them giving other teams praise for their skills.
Our B team of Debate Mate novices won both rounds of their debates and were brilliant too!
Both teams responded excellently to impromptu points of information and floor questioning. They embodied our values of participation and citizenship. Thanks to all involved.
