As we approach the final term, we ask for your continued support in ensuring your child attends school regularly and on time. Together, we can make this a fantastic term full of success, fun, and lasting memories for all our pupils. Eid ul-Adha and GCSE Examinations
We would like to make you aware that Eid ul-Adha is expected to fall on Thursday, 6th June, which coincides with two important GCSE examinations: English Language and Geography. We fully recognise the cultural and religious importance of Eid ul-Adha and the value of family celebrations. However, in accordance with national examination regulations, these exams cannot be rescheduled and must be taken on the scheduled date.
Your child must attend school and sit these exams. Missing these examinations will mean that they fail the qualification and this will impact their future opportunities.

Head of Year Messages |
Year 7 – Ms. C Gates It has been a busy and important week for Year 7, filled with meaningful discussions and activities. In form time and assemblies, students have taken part in sessions for Mental Health Awareness Week, continued House Oracy preparation, and practised mindfulness techniques.
We also marked the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, reminding us of the importance of kindness, respect and inclusion. Well done to Aurora, Rae, Lily, Thalia and Florence who took part in this assembly. It’s been a powerful week that has truly showcased the strength of our co-curriculum offer.
Looking ahead, we are fast approaching the next round of Big Tests. Revision Week will begin the week commencing 2nd June, and Big Test Week will follow, starting on Monday 9th June. Please support your child in preparing by encouraging regular revision at home, completing SPARX tasks, and using their knowledge organisers and red books. The value of achievement is shown through consistency and preparation—let’s keep working hard together.

Year 8 – Ms. S Bryan
I want to begin this week’s message by congratulating our fantastic Year 8 students on their resilience and mature attitude during our recent Review Week. It has been a pleasure to see so many of them eagerly engaging with their big test results, reflecting thoughtfully, asking questions, and setting personal goals. Their determination to understand their progress and take ownership of their learning is truly commendable.
We want to thank parents who provided feedback on the RSHE curriculum which will be taught to Year 8 in June and July. Following this feedback we have made some changes to our resources. You can view all RSHE resources on the Parent SharePoint.
As we look ahead, a reminder that next week marks both the final week of term and Year 8 Reflect Week. During this time, students will be receiving their reports to take home. These reports are a valuable opportunity to celebrate the successes of the term and identify targets for further improvement. We encourage you to take some time with your child to reflect on their achievements and discuss how they can build on them in the term ahead.
This week also saw the exciting launch of our Summer 1 Project Central! The design brief challenges students to create a page for a Cookbook. This is a compulsory piece of homework for all students, and each submission will be rewarded with a CAP point. The winning entry will receive a £15 voucher!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Wishing you and your families a restful weekend.

Year 9 – Mr C Blackburn It's been a fantastic week at school, filled with achievements and positive energy! A huge congratulations to our Year 9 Cricket team who put on a brilliant performance on Monday, securing a well-deserved win against Didsbury High School. We now look forward to cheering them on in the next round as they take on Chorlton.
I also thoroughly enjoyed my praise walk during Period 1 on Tuesday – it was a pleasure to see so many students fully engaged in their learning. I’ve sent home a number of praise emails recognising outstanding participation – well done to all involved!
Looking ahead to next week, the form with the best classroom behaviour will be rewarded with a free lunch – a great incentive to keep up the excellent Scholarly Habits!

Year 10 – Mr J Roper This week has been a busy week for Y10 with the launch of 'Revision Month' in their assembly on Wednesday with Ms Kilty. In this assembly lots of information was shared with the pupils on how to prepare for their upcoming progress Exams (w/c Monday 16th June). The pupils have adapted well to the real change in the weather, and we ask that you follow the guidance received regarding Blazer and Ties - any change will be when you are notified. With the real change in the weather, it is also essential that the pupils keep themselves hydrated and have access to a drinks bottle that they can refill at locations around the school site.
We finish the week with Y10 playing Cricket in the Lancashire Cup against Chorlton, hopefully next week I can share the news of a resounding victory for MEA Central....fingers crossed.
Many thanks for your continued support

Year 11 – Mr J Rooza
We are incredibly proud of how smoothly the GCSE exams have begun. There’s a real sense of purpose and positivity in the air, and it’s clear that students are putting in the effort and it'll surely pay off. The atmosphere after each exam has been one of relief, confidence, and pride, and we’re so pleased to see students supporting each other through this final stretch.
Please note: if an afternoon exam finishes before 3:00pm, students will be allowed to leave school early. After the half term break, students will also receive an updated lesson timetable. If a blank appears on their timetable, it means they are not required to be in school during that period.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to celebrate with students at Year 11 Prom, which takes place on Tuesday 1st July at The Lowry, Salford. In the lead-up to this special event, we are closely monitoring attendance, punctuality, and behaviour to ensure that students finish their time at MEA Central with the same integrity and focus they’ve shown all year.
It’s hard to believe that in just over five weeks, Year 11 will no longer be filling our corridors. They will be taking their next steps wider world. Please continue to support your child by ensuring they arrive on time for all exams and intervention sessions. And of course, enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!
