Principal’s Message for Week A , wb 30th June 2025
Summer School Trip
We are pleased once again to offer every scholar at MEA Central the much-loved opportunity to attend our Summer School Trip, with each year group visiting either Blackpool Pleasure Beach or Alton Towers on Tuesday 15th July.
Although the total cost of the trip is approximately £40 per pupil due to rising travel costs, we are requesting a contribution of £15 from everyone to help make this exciting experience accessible to all. The payment is required for your child to attend the trip. You can make the payment easily now on Arbor. We look forward to another joyful set of trips! Details will follow closer to the time.
House Competitions – Summer Term Update
Gratitude Card Making
All students participated in the Gratitude Card Making sessions and we are currently reviewing the fantastic designs, and the winning entries will be used across the school later this term – keep an eye out! Winners will be announced on Monday 30th June.
House Sports Day – 16th July
A huge well done to every student who participated with enthusiasm and determination in the House Heats. The PE department are finalising the students who have qualified. The main event will take place on Wednesday 16th July at Stockport Harriers Athletics Track. Parents and students who have qualified will be contacted once the results have been reviewed.
House Countdown
It is House Countdown next week! It is a great event that gives students the chance to showcase their numeracy and literacy skills. A form session and lunchtime competition will give students the chance to represent their House and put their skills to the test. We are looking for three students (any year group) from each House to take part.
House Extravaganza Day – 18th July
We’ll be finishing the year in style with House Extravaganza Day on the final day of term. This whole-school celebration includes inflatables, table tennis, tug of war, festival-style games and classic sports day events. It will be a brilliant way to wrap up the academic year!

Head of Year Messages |
Year 7 – Ms. C Gates This week, Year 7 have shown real enthusiasm and determination during Review Week. They’ve been receiving feedback on their Big Tests and reflecting thoughtfully on their next steps for improvement. It’s been brilliant to see so many students engaging with their learning and taking ownership of their progress.
Next week is Reflect Week, where students will receive their reports. Please take time to review these together at home—students will be able to clearly articulate their strengths and areas for development. We also begin the KS3 Benchmarking Tests in English and Maths next week. These will take place in the Sports Hall to give students valuable experience in a more formal exam setting. Please do reinforce at home that these tests are not high-stakes—they are simply a tool to help us better support students on their learning journey.
A final reminder to keep attendance high to ensure no student misses out as we finish the year strong. There is still so much to look forward to before the summer break, including a geography field trip to Fletcher Moss, a fun-filled day at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Sports Day, and many more exciting activities and surprises to come.

Year 8 – Ms. S Bryan
I hope this message finds you well. I’m delighted to share that Year 8 continue to demonstrate excellent attendance – a testament to their commitment and your ongoing support. Strong attendance is one of the key pillars of academic success, and we are incredibly proud of the consistency our pupils have shown this year.
This week, we launched South Asian Heritage Month, a celebration of the rich and diverse cultures that make up our school community. Over the coming weeks, pupils will have the opportunity to engage with a range of activities both in lessons and during co-curricular time, designed to educate, inspire, and celebrate heritage and identity.
As we begin the transition into Year 9, we are encouraging our pupils to take greater responsibility for their independence. One of the first steps will be moving away from lining up at break and lunchtime. For this shift to be successful, it is important that pupils demonstrate increasing maturity and self-management during transition time s. We trust that our Year 8 students are ready to rise to this challenge. Finally, a reminder that KS3 assessments will take place next week in the sports hall. As we’ve already communicated to pupils, there is no need to feel stressed – these tests are simply an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge. The most important thing is that they approach each session with a positive attitude and conduct themselves in a calm, scholarly manner.
Thank you for your continued support.

Year 9 – Mr C Blackburn Year 9: Preparing for the Transition to Year 10 As we move through this half term, we have been incredibly impressed with the maturity and responsibility shown by our Year 9 students. They have approached this important stage of the year with a fantastic attitude, and it has been a pleasure to see them rising to the challenge.
Students have also received their Futures Letters, and we want to reassure you that the options process has been carefully planned and managed to ensure your child is well supported in making choices that will lead to a fantastic future.
Next week, Year 9 will take part in Benchmark Tests. There is no need to panic — the main goal is simply to practice sitting in exam conditions and to become familiar with the process. It is about building confidence and experience, not pressure.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support.

Year 10 – Mr J Roper I wanted to start this newsletter entry by saying how proud I am of the whole year group for the amazing way they have approached their Progress Exams, both last week and this week. The pupils have been a credit to themselves in the way they have entered the exam's, quickly listened and followed instructions and applied themselves throughout all their exams. It has been great to see so many entering morning 'Line up' with revision in hand and attending extra after-school sessions offered by staff - A HUGE WELL DONE!!
We now move onto the College Taster Day's which are an important opportunity for your child to experience a college provision. The pupils must attend school punctually so that the coaches/transport to the venues can move on time and whole school uniform must be worn (unless the pupils are told specific arrangements for certain trips). On arrival at the Colleges the pupils must take part in their pre-selected activities - these cannot be changed on the day.
Also, early next week can I wish the DofE Bronze expedition pupils loads of luck with their walk and camp - this is the culmination of lots of hard work and independent learning. To finish the week all pupils who take GCSE History or Geography will be completing a visit to Chester or Salford Quays for a field visit. This trip again will need to leave punctually, and all pupils will need to wear full school uniform.
Lots to look forward to and a busy end of Y10!
Mr Roper & Ms Renshaw
