Summer School Trip
We are pleased once again to offer every scholar at MEA Central the much-loved opportunity to attend our Summer School Trip, with each year group visiting either Blackpool Pleasure Beach or Alton Towers on Tuesday 15th July.
Although the total cost of the trip is approximately £40 per pupil due to rising travel costs, we are requesting a contribution of £15 from everyone to help make this exciting experience accessible to all. The payment is required for your child to attend the trip. You can make the payment easily now on Arbor. We look forward to another joyful set of trips! Details will follow closer to the time.
House Competitions: Summer Term Update
Gratitude Card Making
Our Year 7–9 students have now completed their House Gratitude Card Making sessions, creating thoughtful and beautifully coloured postcards to share messages of thanks based on current themes (such as summer or South Asian heritage month). We're currently reviewing the fantastic designs, and the winning entries will be used across the school later this term – keep an eye out!
House Sports Day – 16th July
All House heats for Sports Day have now taken place. A huge well done to every student who participated with enthusiasm and determination. The main event will take place on Wednesday 16th July at Stockport Harriers Athletics Track. Parents and students who have qualified will be contacted once the results have been reviewed.
House Countdown
We’re looking forward to our House Countdown competition – a fun event that gives students the chance to showcase their numeracy and literacy skills. A form session and lunchtime competition will give students the chance to represent their House and put their skills to the test.
House Extravaganza Day – 18th July
We’ll be finishing the year in style with House Extravaganza Day on the final day of term. This whole-school celebration includes inflatables, table tennis, tug of war, festival-style games and classic sports day events. It will be a brilliant way to wrap up the academic year!

Support for young people and parents
Vaping is something that is becoming more and more common amongst young people in high schools.
We will continue to encourage children to avoid engaging in vaping and we will always encourage / educate children on these risks.
Please be aware recently, there has been a rise in vapes containing dangerous chemicals and added substances.
Support available at school
MEA Central engages with a charity called Eclypse. Eclypse helps young people in Manchester who would like advice or support for their own - or someone else’s - drug or alcohol use. Please see a link below to the website.

If you believe your child is vaping regularly and requires support, please get in touch. Eclypse can visit your child for an appointment within school.
Head of Year Messages |
Year 7 – Ms. C Gates Year 7 have had an excellent week, showing lots of gratitude to their teachers. As part of this, students took part in a House Competition to design a new gratitude postcard and wrote thoughtful messages to staff as part of our ‘Thank a Teacher Day’. In form time and assemblies, we’ve also revisited what it means to be an MEA Central scholar and how we can maintain our high expectations for behaviour in the classroom right through to the end of the year.
Next week is Review Week, where Year 7 will begin to look back over their Big Tests and receive valuable feedback. A reminder that the Benchmark Tests will take place during the week commencing 30th June – no preparation is needed for these, they are a tool used by the school to benchmark year group progress against other schools to ensure our internal assessment is accurate.
We are continuing to push for excellent attendance in these last few weeks of term – coming in every day is the best way to finish the year strong. We will also be talking to students about how to transition successfully into Year 8, which includes taking on more independence and continuing to meet the high standards expected across the school.

Year 8 – Ms. S Bryan
Firstly, I want to take a moment to celebrate Year 8's fantastic attendance and punctuality so far this half term. It’s been brilliant to see so many students arriving on time, ready to learn, and engaging fully in school life. Well done and thank you for your continued effort and dedication – let’s keep this momentum going!
A special thank you also goes out to all of Year 8 for their wonderful behaviour and enthusiasm during last week’s Eid celebration. It was a truly joyful occasion, and your respect, participation, and sense of community were a credit to the year group.
As we look ahead, I’d like to remind students and families that upcoming national tests are on the horizon. There is absolutely no need to feel stressed or worried – these assessments are a chance for students to demonstrate what they’ve learned and to practise good test habits that will support them well as they approach Key Stage 4. Please encourage your child to approach the tests calmly, with focus and positivity.
We also have some exciting events coming up this term:
Finally, as the weather continues to warm up, please ensure students are coming to school with a refillable water bottle so they can stay hydrated throughout the day.
Thank you as always for your ongoing support. Year 8 continues to impress and inspire – let’s keep striving for excellence together.

Year 9 – Mr C Blackburn Year 9 Update: Maturity, Prefect Applications & Work Experience Since returning from the May half term, Year 9 students have demonstrated impressive maturity and excellent behaviour, we have been truly impressed by their attitude and conduct. Letters have also gone home which will explain what choices have been allocated, exciting times ahead.
The launch of the prefect applications has also been a real highlight, with many students showing enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to leadership. As we prepare for the transition into Year 10, our focus will shift towards building resilience and adapting to challenge, key skills that will support students in the next phase of their school journey.
We have also introduced the Work Experience programme through a live assembly. This is an exciting opportunity for students to begin thinking about their future. We encourage them to start exploring ideas, reflecting on their interests, and having conversations at home about the types of careers or workplaces they might like to learn more about. It is a great time to be curious, ask questions, and begin considering what kind of experience could inspire them going forward.
Well done to the Scholars of the week last week. Thank you for your continued support,
Mr Blackburn and Miss Naz |
