Year 6 Transition Day 2025

Dear Parent/Carer

Once again, I am delighted your child has been offered a place at MEA Central and will have the opportunity to become part of the MEA Central family.

Our vision is ‘a fantastic future for all’: we provide the best all-round education possible, preparing our students for happiness and success in their adult lives. We care about helping them to ‘be their best’ and know that the only way to do this is through academic achievement, character development and strong pastoral support. It is a rare privilege to educate other people’s children, and it is a responsibility that I take very seriously.

The transition from primary to secondary is an exciting yet often overwhelming time for children and their parents. Our transition team have a wealth of experience supporting parents and young people.

To ensure the transition from primary to secondary school goes as smoothly:

1. Please ensure that you have completed your data collection form via Applicaa. You should have received your login details via email. Once this is completed, you can pop into our main reception to collect your voucher for a free MEA Central blazer and tie.

2. Our Year 6 Transition Day will take place on Thursday 3rd July between 8.45am – 2:45pm. Students will be expected to make their own way to school and should wear their primary school uniform or P.E kit and sports shoes/ P.E pumps.

Arrival and Principal’s Presentation

Students should arrive at 8.45am and make their way to the Sports Hall via the car park area on Lytham Road, where they will be greeted by our transition team. Designated entrances will be signposted on the day.

I will be delivering an optional 15-minute presentation at 9am followed by an opportunity to meet the senior leadership team. This presentation is for parents only.

Schedule

We have a very exciting day planned. Students will meet key staff and be supported by our student Transition Ambassador team throughout the day. Some sessions may take place outside. In the case of hot weather, we request that students wear sunscreen and bring a reusable water bottle.

Break and Lunch Times

During morning break, all students will be provided with a free drink and a snack. A hot lunch will also be provided free of charge; however, students may bring a packed lunch if they wish. All the food served in our canteen is Halal and we have a variety of vegetarian and plant-based meals available. If your child has specific dietary requirements, please let us know in advance by emailing: transition@meacentral.org.uk.

End of the school day

Students will finish school earlier than our current students at 2.45pm and will exit via Lytham Road by the main car park. Students can make their own way home. If they need to wait for older siblings, then they can remain in the theatre to be collected.

If your child is unable to attend the transition day, please contact the school office on 0161 499 2736 or email transition@meacentral.org.uk.

Further information, including our Transition Handbook can be found on our Transition Zone website.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our Transition team on transition@meacentral.org.uk or contact main reception on 0161 499 2736.

Yours sincerely
