Attendance
We would like to thank you for your continued support to keep school attendance a priority. Thanks to your commitment, or school has continued to achieve outstanding attendance, placing us in the top 10% of all schools nationally for both the autumn and spring term. This is a fantastic achievement and one that reflects our excellent partnership between home and school, and our shared understanding of how important consistent attendance is to your child's success. With your ongoing support, we are aiming to stay in the top 10% for the summer term too - let's keep up the great work together!
Progress Exams
From Monday 30th June students in Years 7, 8, and 9 will sit Progress Tests in English and Maths, with Science also included for Years 8 and 9. These will take place in the Sports Hall, giving students valuable experience in a formal exam setting and helping to build confidence and resilience. Parents will receive a letter with times and dates of your child's tests.
South Asian Heritage Month
As part of our celebrations for South Asian Heritage Month, beginning on Monday the 23rd of June, students will take part in a vibrant programme of activities under the theme Stories to Tell. During form time, students will explore rich South Asian folklore, literary and cultural stories, and real-life accounts of migration, helping to deepen their understanding of diverse histories and experiences. There will be opportunities to taste a variety of South Asian dishes at lunch, offering students a chance to experience the region’s rich culinary heritage. As a special end-of-year reward, some students will be invited to take part in a joyful Colour Run. This will be a fun and vibrant celebration of culture, participation, achievement, and community.
Reminder: Mobile phone expectations and parent collection process
We would like to take this opportunity to remind families of our school’s mobile phone policy. As outlined in our behaviour policy:
We advise scholars not to bring mobile phones to school. Any mobile phone brought to school must be switched off and safely stored in a school bag prior to entering the school grounds. The phone should not be accessed again for any reason until the scholar has left school grounds. If a mobile phone is seen or heard by a member of staff, then the phone will be confiscated and kept by school securely for 1 week. Parents will be required to collect the confiscated phone after 1 week and sign an agreement form.
This process is in place to ensure that learning is free from distractions and that all students remain safe and focused throughout the school day.
As part of our ongoing commitment to clear communication and partnership with families, we would like to remind parents and carers that when a confiscated phone is collected after the 1-week period from the student gateway, a short agreement form will be signed to confirm awareness of the policy and commitment to supporting their child in following it.
We appreciate your continued support in upholding high standards and ensuring a calm, purposeful learning environment for all students.

Head of Year Messages |
Year 7 – Ms. C Gates Year 7 have made a strong start to the final half term of the year, returning with focus and energy. Eid Mubarak to all our scholars and families celebrating on Friday – we hope you have a joyful day. This half term we have lots to look forward to, including our Year 7 trip to Blackpool theme park and the exciting House Extravaganza!
Big Tests begin next week, and we encourage all students to revise over the weekend and come in ready to show what they know. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate the value of achievement and celebrate everything they've learned this year. We also have national tests coming up starting Monday 30th June, so keeping momentum high is key.
Finally, a reminder to all families about the importance of online safety. Platforms like Snapchat have a minimum age of 13, and we ask that families regularly check device usage and speak to their children about staying safe online.

Year 8 – Ms. S Bryan
Welcome back to the final half term of Year 8! I hope everyone had a restful break and is feeling refreshed and ready for the exciting weeks ahead. It’s hard to believe we’re nearing the end of the academic year, it’s been a fantastic journey so far, and we’re looking forward to finishing it on a high note.
A huge congratulations to all students who submitted entries for the Central Project this half term. The standard of work has been exceptional, creative, thoughtful, and thoroughly impressive. Your talent continues to amaze us, and it’s clear that a great deal of effort and imagination went into every single submission. Well done!
I’d also like to give a special mention to those who took part in the Animation Workshop on Monday. You represented Year 8 brilliantly and truly embodied our school values through your teamwork, enthusiasm, and dedication. You should all be incredibly proud of what you achieved.
As part of the SCC curriculum this half term, Year 8 students will be focusing on RSHE (Relationships, Sex and Health Education). There have been some updates to the curriculum, and I encourage all parents and carers to review the changes, which are now available via the Parent SharePoint on the school website.
Finally, to all those celebrating Eid on Friday, Eid Mubarak! We wish you and your families a joyful and peaceful celebration. As always, thank you for your continued support.

Year 9 – Mr C Blackburn Year 9 It’s been wonderful to welcome Year 9 back for their final half term of Key Stage 3. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to build strong, positive habits as they prepare to enter KS4.
One of our key messages this term is the importance of attendance and punctuality. These are not only vital to academic success but are also qualities that colleges look for when considering applicants. As shared by Xaverian College:
“It is very important to us that students who come to Xaverian understand that they are joining a community that values commitment and hard work. Attendance and punctuality are central to this and important factors that may prevent students from being offered a place, despite performing well in their GCSEs and getting good grades.”
To support this, we are running an exciting incentive: Manchester United Signed T-Shirt Draw Students will be entered into the draw if they meet the following criteria for Summer 2:
We encourage all students and families to continue prioritising full attendance and excellent punctuality as we approach the summer break.
We're also looking forward to several exciting events this half term, including:
The Year 9 team are thrilled about these fantastic opportunities and look forward to a productive and memorable half term ahead. Thank you for your continued support,
Mr Blackburn and Miss Naz

Year 10 – Mr J Roper Firstly, I would like to start this entry by saying 'Thank you 'for ensuring that your child has returned to school after the holidays in such a positive manner - attendance, punctuality, standards of uniform and the way in which the students have applied themselves in lessons/learning has been exemplary.
As I write this entry, students have less than 33 days left in Year 10 and we really want them to make the most of this time, ensuring they are ready for Year 11 next year. This final term will be extremely busy, and I know through conversations with many pupils, they are all busy preparing and revising for their upcoming Progress Exams (w/c 16th June).
You will also be aware of several up-coming trips to colleges that will run in the first week of July. We are aiming to give everyone in the year group a visit to a college campus so they can experience first-hand what this will look like in the future. Please ensure that when a reply slip is sent back for these visits all the relevant information has been completed and signed by a parent/guardian.
Many thanks,
Mr Roper & Ms Renshaw

Year 11 – Mr J Rooza
Year 11 students have less than two weeks left before their exams come to an end, and we couldn’t be prouder of their progress and resilience. They have shown incredible determination throughout this challenging period, and we are confident that their hard work will pay off.
As a reminder, if your child has a blank space on their timetable, they are welcome to leave the site if they wish. However, there will be a dedicated room in school for students to revise next week if they prefer to stay and continue their preparation.
We are also excited to announce that the Leavers Assembly will take place at 3:15 pm on Friday, 13th June 2025. This will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible achievements of our Year 11 students. After the assembly, there will be plenty of time for pictures and shirt signing. Please ensure students arrive on time if they do not have an exam or timetabled class that afternoon.
Looking ahead, the Prom is scheduled for 1st July 2025, and we are all eagerly anticipating this fantastic event. Tickets are available on Arbor and must be purchased in advance, so please reserve your space. If you have any questions or need more information, don’t hesitate to speak with me.
This really is the final hurdle. Let's continue to support our students as they finish strong.
Mr Rooza & Mrs Costello
