Principal’s Message

This week has been gratitude week here at Central, where we take the time to reflect and give thanks and appreciation for all we have. The value of this term has been Achievement, and our scholars have been working extremely hard in lessons and achieving impressive results in assessments and tests.

Uniform

Please be reminded that students are expected to arrive back to school in full, perfect uniform. We always provide items of uniform to students who have misplaced or forgotten items, but many students are not returning these to us, and, over time, our store has completely depleted.

This is a plea to families to send in any items of uniform at home that their child has been loaned and not returned, ties and blazers especially are in very short supply and expensive for us to keep replacing. From next term, students being loaned an item will have the cost debited from their Arbor account, and refunded only when they return the item.

Year 11 Easter Study School

In the Easter holidays we will be running an ‘Easter Study School’ for Year 11 to support them with their final exam preparations. It will take place on Tuesday 2nd April – Friday 5th April.

The Easter Study School will be an opportunity for students to: attend some structured revision sessions with their teachers or an external tutor and attend ‘study hall’ where they can revise in silence, independently and have access to revision resources, practice papers, laptops. Whilst resources will be available, we advise students to bring their own revision guides with them too.

Lunch will be provided for all students who are not fasting in the month of Ramadan.  All Year 11 students are invited to attend the Easter Study School; however, some students may be invited to specific sessions by their subject teachers. Your child will have received an invite from their teachers informing them about which sessions they must attend.

Thank you to those that have registered for the Tutor Trust tuition, you will receive an email letting you know what day your child's tuition is on.

Students do not need to register beforehand to attend study hall or sessions run by class teachers.

Please find enclosed an outline of the timings and revision sessions. Students will be welcomed from 8:45am each morning as the sessions begin promptly at 9am. Students will only be able to arrive and leave the school at breakfast, break, lunch and at the end of the day.

Year 10 Careers Week

Last week, Year 10 were particularly busy attending mock interviews, work experience placements and our careers fair in school. A huge well done to this year group who have really lived our values of Participation, Achievement and Citizenship.

Adventure Day

Year 7, 8 and 9 enjoyed adventure day on Friday and represented our school excellently. Students visited different places such as Chester Zoo, Blue Planet Aquarium, Knowsley Safari Park, Liverpool, Tatton Park, and Heaton Park. It was great to hear stories about their adventures and for them to have enjoyed the day so much!

As we begin the holidays, I hope everyone celebrating Easter weekend has a wonderful time with friends and family. I would also like to extend warm wishes to all members of our school community who will be celebrating Eid al-Fitr. Both celebrations are a time of joy, reflection, and togetherness, and it brings me great pleasure to acknowledge and honour the significance of these special occasions within our diverse community.

May your holidays be filled with blessings, happiness, and cherished moments spent with loved ones.

  • We break up for the Easter holidays today, Thursday the 28th of March and return to school on Monday at the usual time of 8.40am on the 15th of April.

  • There is an INSET day on Friday the 19th of April, where the school is closed to all students.

House Debate and The Spring Showcase

We rounded off a fantastic Spring term for our co-curriculum with our House Debate final and The Spring Showcase – a festival of music, dance, and drama. Both events proved there is so much talent here at MEA Central!

Head of Year Messages

Year 7 – Ms Bryan

Last week Year 7 have had the fantastic opportunity to visit the City of Liverpool on an adventure day. They took part in several activities to enrich their knowledge of the city, including a visit to The Beatles museum and various famous landmarks such as the Albert Dock, the Watchman’s Hut, and Liverpool Town Hall. We are immensely proud of how they represented the school, displaying our value of citizenship. Scholars, through and through!!

Year 8 – Mr J Anatsui

Year 8 have had a fantastic day on Friday for adventure day. They were mature and represented MEA Central brilliantly. They made me very proud to be their Head of Year.

We break up for the Easter holidays on Thursday the 28th of March and come back to school on Monday the 15th of April in full uniform.

Year 9 – Ms K Rathore and Mr J Roper

We all really enjoyed celebrating 'Adventure Day' with the Y9 pupils last week, spending some time in form looking at their Wellbeing and completing a creative writing task before visiting one of the local Country parks. It was great to take the pupils to explore and bring learning to life in an outside environment. The pupils completed the day in a mature and responsible way and were a credit to themselves.

Please remember that we break-up for the Easter Holidays on Thursday 28th March. When we come back on the 15th of April, we have lots to fit in; Big Tests for the pupils, Celebration assembly, Performing arts evening and the House Debate.

Can we take this opportunity to thank all the pupils and their parents and guardians for your continued support this term.

Many thanks, Ms Rathore, Mr Roper & Ms Renshaw

Year 10 – Mr J Rooza

It was a triumphant week last for our year 10 students, who have had work experience last week.

On Monday, all students had the opportunity to take part in a practice interview. This interview was designed to introduce students to the recruitment process, experience what an interview is like and gain some careers guidance in the process. The students were consummate professionals throughout the day, completing their interviews like true scholars. Feedback from the interviewers, a range of businesspeople and local professionals, was glowing. Some of them commented on how eloquent, mature, and aspirational our students were.

Following the interview, students completed a three-day work placement at a range of different workplaces. We had students working in medicine, education, and hospitality. Again, the feedback from employers has been overwhelmingly positive and has given the students a taste of the working world.

The careers fair was the perfect end to a very successful week. Students were able to talk to a variety of colleges and employers about potential careers and the best pathway to achieve their fantastic future. I'm very proud of how year 10 tackled the challenges last week!

Year 11 – Mr C McCullough

Thank you for all your support and well done to Year 11 on an excellent two weeks of Progress Tests.  We are now truly on the final countdown towards the GCSE examinations, and it is time for Year 11 to showcase just how hard they have worked during their time at Central.

I have been explaining to Year 11 that the actual exam is not the hard part, but the preparation leading up to the exam.  Students should be revising daily, and we would always advise students to revise little and often.  Teachers have been working hard to mark the progress exams and get feedback to students, this should support your child with where to focus their revision.

Attendance and punctuality are as crucial as ever, please ensure your child is arriving at school on time and is coming in every day.

Here are some key dates coming up:

  • Easter School - 2nd - 5th April

  • Practical Exams - 15th - 18th April

  • Written Exams - 6th May - 20th June

As always, get in touch if you require more information or support.
