Winter Showcase 2018

Posted on: 28/01/2019

On Thursday 13th December, MEA Central put on their second 'Winter Showcase'! With two year groups participating, we knew it was going to build on the success of last year and be an evening to remember.

With Drama Club working on their performance since October, Miss Reynolds set out a challenge to try and fit in an array of performances that were not just theatre based. Mr Hayes' Vocal Group kicked the evening off with a lovely rendition of 'True Colours', followed up by Mariek's interpretation of 'Talking Turkeys'. We put the video of him reading the poem on Twitter and the poet himself, Benjamin Zephaniah replied commenting on how impressed he was!

Next up was an energetic dance by our Year 7 girls, followed by Year 8s Lola and Marnie serenading us with their emotional version of 'Say Something'. Everyone eventually composed themselves in time to end the first act with Drama Club's 'Audition' piece, which saw failing gymnastic and comedians fighting it out to perform at the Winter Showcase!

Act Two got off to a great start, with our Spanish Choir taking us to Spain and away from a very cold Manchester! There were even appearances from our budding rappers who shared what they had been working on our in ‘Wrapped in Poetry Club’. To conclude the evening, our Drama Leaders created a physical theatre performance that was enough to melt our hearts on a winter day.

Another success for our talented performers. We can’t wait for next year already!
