The Altius Trust is a multi-academy educational trust with an ongoing commitment to opening and running academies with a high level of achievement in the Manchester area.
Our flagship school, Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA) in Wythenshawe, was winner of Secondary School of the Year (2015-16) and Healthy Living Award (2016-17) at the MEN Schools Awards, as well as being shortlisted for a national TES award in the category of ‘Community Collaboration’ for our mentoring project with Lloyds Banking Group.
MEA was described in a glowing 2015 Ofsted report as:
A vibrant community that treats you like family [and] a good school that has improved students’ achievement significantly year on year
MEA has also been selected to be a national hub for the teaching of Mandarin.
Our Trust Partners include some of the most successful and innovative companies in the UK, all of whom have a strong commitment to Manchester. Their involvement in the Trust underlines their commitment to developing the young people of the city, and also their recognition that to recruit excellent leaders from local families they have to be committed to their development prior to them becoming employees. Who better to inform education leaders about the changing face of employment than some of the biggest employers in the UK?
Our experienced CEO, James Eldon, has spent many years in school improvement, previously working at Chorlton High School in Manchester. James was appointed as Principal of MEA in Wythenshawe in 2011, and since then attendance has gone up 11%, achievement has transformed and the Academy has moved from financially troubled to hugely over-subscribed. James has been recognised as one of the “Education Reformers of the Year” and is currently Chair of the Manchester High School Headteachers group. He is committed to working in Manchester and providing all our students with a fantastic future.
