Be Kind Week December 2017Posted on: 15/12/2017
‘Be Kind’ Charity Week
This will be annual event and this year our chosen charities were Shelter and the NSPCC.
The week is named after one of our core values, Citizenship – or put more simply – being kind. The week was a roaring success with all 9 form groups, competing with each other to raise as much money as possible. Monday saw 7Armitage take on 7Duffy with cake sales, sponsored silences and a movie evening in the state of the art school theatre. Tuesday kicked off with 7Bronte's charity fair and 7Nadiu washed teachers’ cars after school. 7 Elliot were entrepreneurial and created a booking system for the school sports pitches and held a ‘Sponge the Headteacher’ event after school.
During the week tickets were donated by Manchester United Foundation, for the derby game against Manchester City. Students were able to win them in a tombola event.
Mrs Reynard said, "Our first ever ‘Be Kind’ Week has surpassed all of our expectations. Our core values of Citizenship, Achievement and Participation were truly demonstrated in this period. The kindness shown by our students will help many of those needing the support of Shelter or the NSPCC. Our school has worked hard to develop a culture where kindness is shown to all of those in our community and ultimately achieve our school vision for ‘A Fantastic Future for All’. The students have raised over £1000 for the charities and have set a high standard for future years!"
We have teamed up with the Fallowfield Foodbank to collect food parcels to help families out over the holiday period. All donations need to be in school by Tuesday 19th December.
